But here&#8217;s the thing \u2014 they end up finding so much more than they ever expected. So, what exactly makes being a Lion so special? We took a peek at our latest member satisfaction survey to uncover what our members love about being Lions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>95%\u00a0<\/strong>feel they are making a difference.<\/li>\n<li><strong>92%\u00a0<\/strong>enjoy opportunities for fellowship and fun.<\/li>\n<li><strong>91%<\/strong>\u00a0have a sense of belonging.<\/li>\n<li><strong>86%<\/strong>\u00a0realize personal growth and development.<\/li>\n<li><strong>80%<\/strong>\u00a0feel their self-esteem and self-worth are enhanced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While the data is pretty incredible, we didn\u2019t stop there. We also talked with numerous members to better understand the joy of being a Lion. Here are just a few of our favorites:<\/p>\n<div>\n<h4>Terrence \u201cTebo\u201d Richards<\/h4>\n<p>Thistletown Lions Club<br \/>\nToronto, Canada<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why He Joined:<\/strong><br \/>\nTebo witnessed the power of Lions at work \u2014 people of all walks of life changing the community one service project at a time \u2014 and wanted to be part of it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What He Found:<\/strong><br \/>\nTebo discovered that helping others has the power to lift his own spirits. \u201cIf I\u2019m feeling a bit down or depressed and I go out and do something to put smiles on people\u2019s faces, it gives me a warm feeling in my heart knowing I\u2019m making a difference as a Lion.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;703&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=&#8221;black&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2&#8243; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;5&#8243; content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;706&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; style=&#8221;vc_box_rounded&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>Heidi Haiying<\/h4>\n<p>Melbourne Chinese Lions Club<br \/>\nMelbourne, Australia<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why She Joined:<\/strong><br \/>\nHeidi started as a Leo while a university student living in Sydney. Ten years ago, she moved to Melbourne where she didn\u2019t know many people. Having experienced the power of fellowship as a Leo, she knew exactly where she could make some new friends. So she joined the Melbourne Chinese Lions Club.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What She Found:<\/strong><br \/>\nHeidi found an extended family in her club. \u201cWe spend a lot of time with each other. We learn a lot. We go through a lot together. And we have fun along the way. We attend different gatherings, have dinner and take short trips.\u201d Most importantly, she discovered a close-knit group of people working together to make the world a better place. \u201cBeing a Lion has given me so many wonderful experiences and a great family.\u201d[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=&#8221;black&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2&#8243; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;5&#8243; content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>Paulo Caceres<\/h4>\n<p>Paij\u00e1n Lions Club<br \/>\nPaij\u00e1n, Peru<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why He Joined:<\/strong><br \/>\nPaulo\u2019s service journey began as a Leo years ago when his university professor encouraged him to join a club.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What He Found:<\/strong><br \/>\nAs a Leo, Paulo found it necessary to talk with authorities and others in his small town to get things done. This was a major feat for the once shy boy who was afraid to speak in public.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI found my voice. I discovered I have something to say to people. That changed when his sponsor invited him to a Lions service project. Seeing families living in difficult conditions moved him deeply. From that moment, Raymond knew he wanted to be a Lion.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What He Found:<\/strong><br \/>\nRaymond recalls making many mistakes as a young Lion but is grateful to the senior leaders who guided him along the way. And over the course of his 35-year Lions journey, he has learned how to be a great leader himself. \u201cGreat leadership gives us the confidence and courage to move past mistakes and grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Today, Raymond invites others to join Lions so they too can experience the benefits of membership and ensure the organization he holds dear continues to grow well into the future.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=&#8221;black&#8221; border_width=&#8221;2&#8243; css=&#8221;&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row gap=&#8221;5&#8243; content_placement=&#8221;middle&#8221;][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h4>Katie Townsend<\/h4>\n<p>Christchurch Lions Club<br \/>\nChristchurch, New Zealand<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why She Joined:<\/strong><br \/>\nKatie, who is autistic and passionate about raising awareness of neurodiversity, joined to support causes close to her heart in a welcoming environment. She loves being a Lion because anyone \u2014 regardless of background or skill set \u2014 can be a member.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What She Found:<\/strong><br \/>\nKatie discovered a supportive club that embraced her talents and helped her thrive. She describes her club as \u201cone big happy family,\u201d where people from all walks of life come together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy club has been really supportive and welcomed me with open arms,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen I started, I was quite shy.
